ANGOLA, IN (WTVB) – The city of Angola has taken the final action on an ordinance that will ban sex offenders from city owned parks after a proposal from Park Superintendent Matt Hannah.
The Angola Common Council this week voted unanimously in favor of new ordinance that now makes it illegal for a registered sex offenders to enter any of the city owned parks including yet to be opened Sheets Family Park near the YMCA, Commons Park, Fireman’s Park, and Friendship Park.
The ordinance was created to address concerns from the public and to close a loophole that allowed registered sex offenders to visit public parks, despite Indiana law restricting them from living within 1,000 feet of a park.
A registered sex offender found in a public park will be subject to a fine of $500.
New signage will soon be placed near the entrances of all city owned parks warning sex offenders to keep out.

Coldwater will welcome them I am sure
