COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – On Purple Night, Coldwater’s annual cancer awareness event, the Cardinals improved to 6-1 on their comeback season with a 42-7 non-conference victory over the Okemos Wolves at Cardinal Field.
Coldwater’s defense shone once again, allowing only one Okemos score while recovering three fumbles and recording three quarterback sacks. The Cardinals finished with 416 yards of offense, compared with 266 for the Wolves, and led 21-7 at halftime.
Dracyn Foster was 15-for-25 passing for a season-high 304 yards, 4 touchdowns, and no interceptions; he also had a rushing score. Four different receivers crossed the end zone for Coldwater: Evan Lewis had 5 catches for 145 yards, Bennett McDonald had 5 receptions for 122 yards, Dayton Ennis had 3 catches for 31 yards, and Royale Flemming had 2 receptions for 6 yards to go with 8 carries for 35 yards. Landon Dirschell had 6 carries for 57 yards and a TD to lead the ground game.
Cooper Golematis led the Cardinal defense with 7 tackles, 2 sacks, and a fumble recovery. Landon Dirschell finished with 6 tackles, Evan Lewis had a 27-yard fumble return, and Garett Klotz had a fumble recovery. Kai Zimmer recorded the game-ending sack.
Coldwater will host Hastings next Friday on Senior Night. The Cardinals haven’t beaten the Saxons since 2019.
