COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Community Health Agency says they will be receiving 975 doses of Pfizer vaccine this week thanks to a new collaboration with the Kalamazoo County Health Department.
The health department in Kalamazoo County has an ultra-cold freezer to store Pfizer vaccine which will make that vaccine available to the Community Health Agency. The C.H.A. initially got the Moderna vaccine.
With the additional vaccine for the tri-county area, the C.H.A. has scheduled clinics for PreK -12th grade educational staff and remaining individuals in category 1A.
The health department does not expect that there are enough doses of vaccine to vaccinate every PreK-12 grade educational staff member. As more vaccine is available in the tri-county area to the local health department and the local hospitals, more opportunities for category 1B individuals to get vaccinated will be publicized.
Everyone in category 1B is asked to keep checking www.bhsj.org for announcements on additional vaccine clinics.
The C.H.A. is partnering with local hospital systems to deliver the COVID-19 vaccine in Branch, Hillsdale and St. Joseph Counties.
At last report, the C.H.A. say there have been 73 COVID-19 related deaths in Branch County while there have been 3,057 positive tests since the first case was reported last March.
