LOWELL, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater led their MHSAA Division 3 Football District Semifinal game at Lowell 14-0 after the first quarter. The Red Arrows would score 49 unanswered points the rest of the way to take the 49-14 victory.
With starting quarterback Dracyn Foster out with a dislocated elbow, the Cardinals retooled their offense around sophomore backup Royale Flemming, who had 30 carries for 59 yards while also going 5/10 passing for 105 yards and two touchdowns. Evan Lewis had the first score of the game on a 38-yard TD reception; he finished with 2 catches for 59 yards. Dayton Ennis had only one reception, a 23-yard TD grab late in the first quarter.
The Red Arrows scored twice in the second quarter to knot the game at 14-14 heading to the halftime break. They took the lead for good with a score on the first drive of the second half and never looked back, outgaining Coldwater 325-79 on the ground and 421-184 overall.
Coldwater ends its season with a 6-4 record. Lowell improves to 8-2 and will host Thornapple Kellogg next week in a Division 3 District Final after the Trojans held off Hastings 28-20.
