QUINCY, MI (WTVB)- The Village of Quincy has announced that an analysis by the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality shows that there is no PFAS contamination in the village water supply.
Samples taken from the City of Bronson also recently came back negative.
It was announced during last week’s Community Health Agency Board of Health meeting that the sampling for PFAS contamination in Branch, St. Joseph, and Hillsdale Counties was nearly complete.
Director of Environmental Health Paul Andriacchi reported to the board that all 21 samples had been collected in Branch County while 19 of 20 samples had been collected in Hillsdale County and 37 out of 38 samples had been collected in St. Joseph County.
Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are a group of man-made chemicals that includes PFOA, PFOS, GenX, and many other chemicals. PFAS have been manufactured and used in a variety of industries around the globe, including in the United States since the 1940s.
