PORTAGE, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater Cardinals put up a monumental effort in their Division 1 Girls Volleyball District Semifinal contest at Portage Central Wednesday night, but the host Mustangs prevailed in five sets, 25-13, 27-29, 25-23, 26-28, 15-9.
Aubrey Gebbink led the attack with 18 kills, while Mya Porter had 14 and Marie Powers added 13. Porter also led the defense with 29 digs, with Powers adding 3 blocks. Brooklyn Closson dished out 46 assists and had 13 digs, Maren DeBeau had 23 digs, and Adyson Qualls served up 6 aces.

Coldwater concluded its season with a record of 23-19-5. Portage Central improved to 21-21 and will host Lakeview Friday afternoon for the District title. The Spartans defeated Sturgis in straight sets, 25-18, 25-13, 25-13 in Wednesday’s other District Semifinal.
BRONSON, MI – The Bronson Vikings will host the Galesburg-Augusta Rams Thursday night at 6 p.m. in a Division 3 Girls Volleyball District Final. In Wednesday’s District Semifinals, Bronson downed Centreville in straight sets, 25-14, 25-9, 25-23, while G-A eliminated Union City in straight sets, 25-19, 25-14, 27-25.
The Vikings improved to 27-17-6 with the win. The Chargers ended their season with a record of 24-19-2.
