COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The second of two men arrested last year following a lengthy meth investigation by the Branch County Sheriff’s Department has ben sentenced.
33-year-old Joseph Gaskill, will serve 5 to 15 years in prison.
Branch County Circuit Judge Bill O’Grady issued the sentence on this week, after Gaskill pled guilty to possession of methamphetamine as a second offender last month.
The charges stemmed from a search warrant executed by deputies in December 2024 at a home Gaskill shared with co-defendant Ray Zierle, where they seized over 80 grams of meth, along with scales, packaging materials, syringes, pipes, and a sawed-off shotgun.
The Branch County Sheriff’s office indicated these arrests were part of an ongoing effort to combat a significant methamphetamine problem.
Gaskill has a history of other offenses, including stalking and previous drug-related probation violations.
This new sentence will run consecutively to a prior sentence he received for conviction on cocaine possession.
Zierle, was sentenced in August to 9 to 20 years after a no contest plea to delivery of methamphetamine.
