UNION CITY, MI (WTVB) – Officials have tentatively set this Friday as the date Union Lake will begin to be brought back to normal levels.
The lake was lowered in September to allow for the work on the Riley Dam project.
Union City Village Manager Chris Mathis says the lake will be brought back up at a rate of six inches per day for approximately two weeks. This is being done to ensure the stability of the new embankment.
Village officials have reported that the dam project has moved much faster than anticipated.
The Village received a $1 million loan from USDA Rural Development which is being used to make repairs to the dam.
The scheduled completion date for the entire project is November 28, 2018.
