COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – District quarterfinal action began Monday in the Michigan High School Athletic Association tournament, and in Division One at Coldwater, the Lady Cardinals swept Sturgis 3-0 (25-9, 25-19, 25-14)
Olivia Foley led Coldwater in assists with 30 and had 7 digs, Tyler Scheid had 7 kills and 8 digs, Anna Tappenden had 5 kills, Abby Herman had 7 kills, and Malorie Rzepka led in aces with 3, led in digs with 10, and had 9 kills
Sam Rodesiler led in kills with 10 and was named our McDonald’s Player of the Match.
The Cardinals will face Gull Lake in the second semifinal Wednesday night at the Coach Eby Gymnasium. The first semifinal at 5:00 p.m. will pit Battle Creek Lakeview against Battle Creek Central.

Galesburg-Augusta 3, Vermontville Maple Valley 0
In Wednesday’s semifinals, Union City will face Delton Kellogg in the first match at 5:30 p.m. followed by Bronson against Galesburg-Augusta. The winners meet Thursday night at 5:30 p.m..

Hanover-Horton 3, Concord 0
Springport 3, Reading 2
Quincy will face Hanover-Horton in the first semifinal on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. followed by Springport against Homer. The district title match will be Friday night at 7:00 p.m..
