CONSTANTINE, MI (WTVB) – Residents of the Custer Apartments in Constantine will have to find a new place to live following a Friday fire which destroyed the two story apartment building.
Constantine Fire Chief Mike Haydon says firefighters had to save a woman from the second floor of the burning structure.
The fire apparently started in a first floor living room.
The residents of the seven apartments who were forced out by the flames are getting assistance from the Red Cross and the St. Joseph County Victim Services Unit.
A firefighter and two civilians were treated and released at the scene. Another person was taken to Three Rivers Health for evaluation.
About 45 firefighters from around St. Joseph County responded to the fire which is still under investigation.
