COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – It was a good weekend for deer hunters in Branch County.
Hunters harvested a total of 780 deer on the first two days of gun season, that was more than half of the total of the entire 2024 season that saw Branch County hunters harvest 1,117 deer during the two week period.
In Hilldale County 1,090 were taken in the first weekend while only 273 were reported in St Joseph County.
Statewide hunters bagged 135,336 deer in the opening weekend according to numbers from the Michigan harvest report summary.
Deer gun season runs through November 30th.
