MARSHALL TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) – A drowsy driver was apparently the cause of a fatal traffic accident in Calhoun County’s Marshall Township Thursday.
The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department says the crash happened just before 12 noon on southbound I-69 near A Drive North.
Deputies report a 72-year-old Canadian Lakes man fell asleep at the wheel and drove into the median, causing the vehicle to hit a berm and go airborne.
An 82-year-old female passenger was killed. The driver and a 61-year-old woman were taken to Oaklawn Hospital in Marshall with minor injuries.
Their names have not been released. The Sheriff’s Department is still investigating the accident.
