QUINCY, MI (WTVB) – The second season starts this evening for the Quincy Orioles and the Union City Chargers after they both qualified for the Michigan High School Athletic Association football playoffs with 6-3 records. Both will play pre-districts games on the road.
Quincy is in Division Six, Region Four, District Two. They will travel to the Irish Hills to face 8-1 Brooklyn Columbia Central. Quincy has made the playoffs for two straight years. This will be the Golden Eagles fourth straight trip to the post-season.
Game time is 7:00 p.m.. Coverage on AM 1590 and FM 95.5 WTVB as well as on line at www.wtvbam.com starts at 6:30 p.m.. The winner will play either Blissfield or Hillsdale for the district title next week.
Union City is in Division Seven, Region Three, District One. The Chargers will travel to 8-1 Centreville for a pre-district game with the Bulldogs. Centreville is making its first playoff appearance since 2008 which was the last year they finished above .500. Their defense has recorded five shutouts this season.
This will be Union City’s 13th playoff appearance since 2001. Tonight’s winner plays either Vermontville Maple Valley or Cassopolis next week for the district title.
