BRONSON, MI (WTVB) – Last night the host Bronson 7th grade boys basketball team welcomed Springport to town in a Big 8 league match up. The Vikings jumped out to an early 12-8 lead, led by Dalton Arnett’s 6 first quarter points.
Turnovers and cold shooting led to Bronson being outscored 7-2 in the 2nd, leading to a 15-14 halftime deficit.
The cold shooting continued in the 3rd quarter, as the Vikes were outscored 8-3, to find themselves trailing 23-17 heading into the 4th quarter.
The Vikings turned up the defensive pressure in the 4th quarter, outscoring Springport 8-4, and had several shot opportunities that wouldn’t fall in the closing seconds, eventually falling by a final score of 27-25.
The Vikings struggled at the free throw line, finishing 1 for 7 for the night. Offensively, Bronson was led by Jayden Drennan’s game high 11 points. Drennan also tallied 4 rebounds, 4 steals & 2 assists.
Dalton Arnett had a solid all around game, finishing with 10 points, 7 rebounds, 4 steals, 2 assists and one block.
Easton Case had 2 points, 3 rebounds and a steal. Kaycenn Stauffer had 2 points & 2 steals. Cooper Kaiser grabbed 5 rebounds and 5 steals. Isaac Price had 5 rebounds and Graycen Miller had a rebound and a steal.
Bronson takes to the road next week, traveling to Stockbridge Monday night.
