COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater City Council adopted a resolution and approved a sales agreement Monday night for the proposed purchase of vacant lots on Thompson Blvd. in the former Deerfield Meadows Development.
The city has been looking at extending Thompson and they have applied to the Michigan State Housing Development Authority for a grant to build two single residential modular homes.
Jim Weiss owns parcels on the east side of Thompson and has agreed to sell seven of the lots for a total of $38,500 or $5,500 per lot.
City Manager Keith Baker and Mayor Tom Kramer told Council members the funds for the purchase will come from the city’s Capital Improvement Fund instead of the general fund.
The Weiss parcels are near the lots that are being sold by the Branch Intermediate School District. The BISD board is scheduled to take action on a bid the city has submitted for the lots during their meeting on Wednesday afternoon. The City was the lone bidder.
The BISD board decided last month to put eight pieces of property on Thompson Boulevard as well as the lot at 76 Wood Drive up for bids.
