COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Branch County and much of Southern Michigan could experience a shift to wintry weather conditions over the Thanksgiving weekend, with forecasts indicating an increasing chance of snow after a mild start to the week.
Area residents and holiday travelers are being advised to monitor weather updates closely as a cold front moves into the region.
Current forecasts from the National Weather Service point to a sharp transition in the weather pattern starting midweek.
On Wednesday Conditions are expected to be mostly cloudy, with a mix of rain and potential snow showers as temperatures fall throughout the afternoon into the mid-30s.
As for Thanksgiving Day colder day is expected, with high temperatures struggling to reach the mid-30s. The current forecast shows a chance of snow showers, with conditions generally cold and breezy.
For Friday and into the weekend, he cold air will settle in, keeping temperatures in the 20s and low 30s. Lake-effect snow potential increases, especially for areas closer to Lake Michigan, continuing into Saturday.
A more widespread, light accumulation of 1 to 3 inches is possible in parts of the area on Saturday.
While significant snow accumulation is not currently forecasted for Branch County, the combination of cold temperatures, gusty winds, and snow showers could create hazardous travel conditions, especially on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
