FULTON, MI (WTVB) – After years of searching, the remains of Venus Stewart was found on Monday in a shallow grave near Fulton. Her estranged husband Doug finally admitted to killing her and disposing of the body. He led authorities to her grave on Monday.
Doug Stewart was convicted in 2011 of killing the Bronson High School graduate by a Saint Joseph County jury in Centerville. The jury deliberated for a little less than three hours before convicting Stewart in the premeditated killing.
He was also found guilty of conspiracy to commit murder.
The trial lasted three weeks. The defense presented no witnesses. Venus Stewart went missing from outside her parent’s home in Colon Township in April 2010. The disappearance followed a bitter custody dispute….
