UNION CITY, MI (WTVB) – Union City village officials say the Riley Dam project is moving much faster than anticipated and as a result, the lake could begin to be brought back up in as little as a week to 10 days.
According to a posting on the village Facebook page, this is a moving target and they do not have an exact date yet but that is their best estimate of when the lake could start to be raised.
Upon raising the lake, it will be controlled and done slowly – no more than 6 inches a day – for reasons of ensuring the stability of the new embankment.
Village officials will issue further announcements as they get further information on the exact date.
