BRONSON, MI (WTVB) – The City of Bronson is reminding residents they are required to clear snow and ice from sidewalks adjacent to their property.
City officials say the mandate is crucial for ensuring the safety and accessibility of pedestrian walkways for students and all residents during winter weather.
Property owners must adhere to Section 34(A) of the City Charter, which legally obligates them to keep these paths free of snow, ice, and other potential nuisances.
Officials urge compliance, framing the requirement as both a civic duty and an essential neighborly gesture to maintain safe community walkways.
First offense could be a $20 fine with the amount peaking at $500 if a property owner is cited four times in a twelve month period.
Additionally, if the city has to clear the sidewalk, the property owner will be invoiced for the actual cost of the removal plus administrative fees.
