COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – It was reported during Wednesday’s Coldwater Board of Public Utilities Board of Directors meeting that the utility’s annual Household Hazardous Waste collection day September 27 at the Branch County Fairgrounds attracted the most participants since 2018.
The total amount of material collected was worth $31,482 which was the highest amount during the last decade.
Monica McKowan is in charge of Key Accounts and Energy Waste Reduction at the CBPU and she said there were 262 participants.
At the start, the lineup of vehicles stretched from Schlabatis Hall to Sprague Street.
Something new during this year’s collection day was a public shredding event.
Only waste from the Cities of Coldwater and Bronson, the Village of Quincy as well as the Townships of Algansee, Bethel, Bronson, Butler, Coldwater, Girard, Kinderhook, Ovid, Sherwood and Quincy was accepted.
