BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – College football now enters the post season with the 12 team CFP and about 500,000 bowl games. Well, not that many bowls but it seems like it.
The Pigskin Prophet is withholding comment on the 12 teams selected for the CFP, enough has already been said. I can just hear the late, great Notre Dame alum Regis Philbin yelling up in the heavens, DON’T GET ME STARTED!!!”
The PP went 3-2 in his college football conference championship game predictions. We correctly predicted Western Michigan’s win in the MAC. What a year to be a Bronco. First the hockey team wins a national title, now the football team has a MAC title. It’s almost enough to make a CMU alum cry, right Ken Delaney?
Looking ahead to the next week in college football…
Navy 22, Army 16
Washington 34, Boise State 24
Troy 24, Jacksonville State 15
Old Dominion 24, South Florida 17
Delaware 28, Louisiana 26
Western Michigan 35, Kennesaw State 27
Memphis 35, NC State 30
Oklahoma 20, Alabama 10 (CFP quarterfinal)
NFL
What a difference a week makes. The road to the NFC North title now runs through Green Bay after the Packers beat the Chicago Bears 28-21. The PP went with the Bears but a rather uninspiring performance by Caleb Williams in the first half combined with a ill-timed late interception led to the Bears dropping from the one seed to the six seed. Don’t forget, if the Lions beat the Bears in the season finale and they wind up in a tie, Detroit would get the tiebreaker. In the NFL, you can go from the top dog to whoa whoa Reorge just like that.
For the record, the PP went 1-2 in his NFL picks last week. The Lions saved their season by defeating the Dallas Cowboys. The PP thought it was safe again to pick Dallas but Dak Prescott was knocked around like a rag doll thanks to an offensive line that has more holes than Swiss cheese.
Looking ahead to Week #15…
Rams 35, Lions 26 (Matthew Stafford will be highly motivated after the treatment he and his family got from Lions fans at Ford Field in the playoffs two years ago)
Bears 27, Browns 10 (The Bears will bounce back against the truly awful Cleveland Clowns)
Vikings 24, Cowboys 20 (This is the Sunday Night game? Really NBC? Seriously?)
After going 4-4 last week, the PP is now 108-65-1 overall for the season.
