UNION CITY, MI (WTVB) – The Union City Chargers defeated the Mendon Hornets 59-18 on Thursday afternoon during an assembly dual meet in front of student bodies from both schools.
The Chargers used four pins and five voids to score the victory.
Union City’s Onalee Taylor won on a void at 106 but Mendon tied the match thanks to a pin from Ash Steffen at 113.
After a double void at 120, the Chargers won six straight matches to take control.
Westin Connell at 126 and Blayne Crance at 132 both scored pins, Kaden Russell won on a void at 138 and Mitchell Graham scored a technical fall at 144.
Gabe Mowry at 150 and Kalub Miller at 157 both won on voids to put the Chargers ahead 41-6.
The Hornets got a pin from Zak Iobe at 165 followed by a win by Union City’s Wyatt Thompson on a void at 175.
Mendon’s J.T. Lux scored a pinfall victory at 190 followed by pins from Union City’s William Thompson at 215 and Luke Cronkright at 285.
The Chargers will participate in the Leslie Team Tournament on Saturday.
BRONSON, MI – Bronson went 2-0 in a home quad meet Thursday, defeating Vicksburg 48-27 and Decatur 57-20. The Vikings return to action next Wednesday at Clinton.
