ANGOLA, IN (WTVB) – Two neighbors are being credited with saving a man from his burning house in the 700 block of East Gilmore in Angola on Friday morning.
Angola Fire Department Public Information Officer T.R. Hagerty says the fire was reported at around 8:30am. It was also reported there was still a person inside.
While on the way to the scene, firefighters found out that neighbors Trevor Adams and Dorothy Crocker were trying to rescue homeowner John Sutton.
Adams and Crocker went into the home and brought Sutton to the front door. A pair of Angola Police Officers then helped him get to safety.
Sutton was taken to Cameron Hospital. His condition was not known. His adult children told WPTA-TV in Fort Wayne that their mother died from a heart attack the previous night.
It took about an hour for firefighters from five departments to bring the fire under control. Investigators determined it was a cooking fire that was accidential in nature.
