Wylla Ann German, 91, of Coldwater passed away Thursday, December 11, 2025 in Marshall, Michigan.
A memorial gathering will be held Sunday, December 21, 2025 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at Dutcher Funeral Home, Coldwater.
She was born December 22, 1933 to parents Frederick Wilhelm and Esther (Bergman) Wanar. During her life, she was married to Wayne German of Bronson for over 25 years and to this union three loving sons were born.
A 1951 graduate of Bronson High School, Wylla lived most of her life in the Bronson area until moving to Coldwater in 1987. In her younger years, she worked at the Bronson Theater before becoming employed as sales coordinator and first woman buyer for nearly 30 years at Douglas Autotech. After retirement, she worked many years as a registrar and a data entry operator for McCracken Camps, Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Wylla was an avid reader, sports fan, experienced knitter (having knitted over 250 beautiful Christmas stockings for family and friends in multiple states,) and a huge fan of playing cards. Wylla had been actively involved in a poker club for nearly 60 years and cherished her friends in this group as well as those in her Texas Hold-em and Pitch clubs. She was also a 25-year bowler having been on the same team during these years. Wylla was a devoted sports enthusiast and spent many years attending her sons’ and grandchildren’s athletic events. During those nail biter ballgames, you could definitely find Wylla pacing the school hallways peeking every few minutes at the score.
She was also a dedicated Detroit Tigers fan and rooted for them her entire life. She was a fiercely devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who adored her three sons and their families more than anything in this world. She considered her three sons to be the greatest accomplishments of her life.
Wylla is survived by sons Scott (Jennifer) German of Coldwater; Todd (Cathy) German and children Rachel, Katie, and Grace of Fort Wayne, Indiana; Mark (Michelle) German and children Brianna, Benjamin and Tyler of Temperance, Michigan; 8 great-grandchildren with another on the way; sister Judy (Jack) Stansell of Coldwater; and sister Martha (Jerry) Eye of Isle, Minnesota and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Frederick “Fritz’ and Esther Wanar who died in 1965 and 1997 respectively, former husband Wayne in 2023, one brother Wally and sister-in-law Patricia Wanar Marshall as well as one nephew and one great-niece.
Memorial contributions may be made to Bronson Jr/Sr High School Athletic Department, 450 East Grant Street, Bronson, Michigan, 49028 or the charity of one’s choice.
