He was born April 24, 1949 in Coldwater, Michigan to Harold and Donna (Carpenter) Trall. He married Janeil (Yager) Trall in July 1987, who survives.
Doug graduated from Quincy High school in 1967. He had many jobs from picking apples, building motor homes, and working for the lumber yard. In 1986 he started at Lakeland Correctional facility and retired in 2004. But, his lifelong passion was being in the fire service. He started going to the fire station at an early age with his Dad.
When he turned 18 he became a volunteer firefighter in Quincy. While with the department he wore many hats; from firefighter to Assistant Chief and then Fire Chief. After 32 years he retired from the Quincy Fire Department. Doug then went to work for the Coldwater Fire Department as the safety officer for 20 years. He retired in 2020.
He served his community for over fifty years and continues to do so by donating his body to Medcure.
Doug enjoyed so many things in life from riding his Harley, to working in the yard. Doug was a stickler and took pride in a beautiful yard. He spent many years camping with family and friends.
Doug also had so many sayings, “don’t speed, speed kills, I’ll take a case of beer and a couple cheeseburgers and how you fixed for socks and underwear.” He affectionately called some friends and family by various nicknames (ie: Ned, Leroy, Meathead, and many more).
Doug is survived by his beloved wife, Janeil; his son, Fire Marshal Steve (Lynn Sullivan) of Coldwater, MI; sister, Charon (Jim) Kill of Union City TN; sister in laws, Sherrie (Rob) Trax, Debbie Yager, Jo (David) Stroud; brothers in laws Todd (Betty) Yager, Brent (Nancy) Yager; five grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter (Tina Maier).
