MARSHALL, MI (WTVB) – In boys high school soccer, Coldwater came up just short Thursday night in the Interstate 8 Conference Gold Division tournament title game, falling at Marshall 1-0.
The Redhawks scored their lone goal with 7:44 to play in the first half. Balal Nasser made 8 saves in goal, as Marshall outshot Coldwater 9-7.
Coldwater coach Ken Delaney said “I thought it was an outstanding game against one of the best teams in the state. We battled them for every ball, and Balal made a couple of amazing saves in goal to keep the game close.”
Marshall is ranked third in the state in Division 2. They finished the regular season at 20-0-1.
Coldwater finished 6-2-1 in the Interstate 8 Conference and 11-6-3 overall for the regular season. They will open MHSAA district play at Battle Creek Central Tuesday night.
The Coldwater JV team finished its season Thursday by falling to Marshall 1-0.
Quincy 8, Blissfield 3
Benjamin Beltran had a hat trick for the Orioles. Alex Pickell and Axel Beltran each had two goals. Brody Glei also scored for Quincy. Andrew Abright shared time in the goal with both Zach Klimmer and Alex Pickell for a combined 10 saves.
