COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – One of the four suspects accused of being involved in a plot to kidnap, rape and kill a child taken randomly from a county fair has had his case bound over to Branch County Circuit Court.
Matthew Toole of Battle Creek waived his preliminary exam and has entered not guilty pleas. He is scheduled to appear for a Circuit Court pre-trial conference November 19, 2018.
The next Branch County District Court hearings for Jayme LaPointe of Athens, David Bailey of Coldwater and Talia Furman of Springfield have been scheduled for November 14.
All four defendants are being held on $5 million bonds. They have been charged by the Michigan Attorney General’s office with conspiracy to commit kidnapping, first-degree criminal sexual conduct and murder.
