COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater Main Street program released their 2025 Impact Report during Wednesday morning’s Downtown Development Authority meeting.
The final version of the report gives a positive spin on a year’s worth of accomplishments as well as Main Street’s goals for the future.
According to the report, over $240,000 in private funds were invested in the downtown core in 2024-2025 which brought the program total in the last four years to over $2-point-8 million.
There were also nine façade and building improvements bringing the total up to 32. In addition, five new businesses brought the total up to 20 since the D.D.A. became part of the Main Street program in October 2021.
The report went on to say there were 1,001 volunteer hours leveraged in service of downtown projects and programs during the past year at a value of nearly $33,000 to the community.
Main Street’s future goals include family-friendly experiences with a focus on arts and culture and revitalizing buildings and public spaces.
In other business, Main Street Director Kristen Johnson gave a report on anticipated Tax Increment Financing under the requirements of a 2018 state law.
She said the estimated TIF revenue for 2026-2027 is $115,000 after the previous TIF revenue was about $112,000 in 2025-2026.
Johnson said the intended future use of the TIF revenue would be for downtown maintenance, promotion and marketing of the downtown, a rebate program tied to facade improvements and building renovations as well as other economic and redevelopment initiatives.
