COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – One of the three suspects charged in connection with the March 2018 vandalism of over 100 tombstones and grave markers at the Oak Grove North Cemetery has entered into a plea agreement with prosecutors and will testify against the other two suspects.
19-year-old Jonathon Siler of Coldwater entered a guilty plea in Branch County Circuit on Wednesday to an amended count of malicious destruction of property between $1,000 and $20,000 to memorials and tombstones.
The two original counts will be dismissed by prosecutors in exchange for his plea and his agreement to testify against the other suspects.
20-year old Christopher Palmerton, Junior and 19-year-old William Vanness are both charged with malicious damage and conspiracy to damage tombstones. They are scheduled to go on trial next Tuesday.
Siler is scheduled to be sentenced November 26, 2018.
