FREMONT, IN (WTVB) – An Illinois man is facing multiple charges including Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated (OWI), after driving the wrong way on the Indiana Toll Road Wednesday.
An Indiana State Police trooper observed a black SUV heading in the incorrect direction before performing an illegal U-turn, prompting an immediate traffic stop.
Upon approaching the vehicle, the officer detected a strong odor of marijuana, leading to a roadside investigation and the subsequent arrest of the driver.
The motorist, identified as 65-year-old Mario Lloyd of Illinois, was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Steuben County Jail. Lloyd faces multiple charges, including Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated (Endangerment), Criminal Recklessness, and Possession of a Controlled Substance.
Additionally, he was cited for operating with a controlled substance in his body and driving with a suspended or revoked registration.
