Bill was born April 24, 1946, to Lester LaVerne LaMee and Jean Ceabell Church. His dad died when he was five and his mother married Leo Doolittle, who already had a son, Carl Doolittle.
Bill started delivering the paper, getting money for mowing lawns, and bailing hay at a young age. He also helped his grandpa Clifford with honeybees. Later he worked at Marking Machine after school. He graduated from the Tekonsha High School with the Class of 1964.
He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1965 and served two years active duty in the continental United States and was honorably discharged from the inactive Army Reserve in December 1971.
Willian married Betty Lou Mitchell in October 1967.
After being discharged from the active Army, he worked at Bundy Tubing. Later, he got a job at Simpson’s Manufacturing, which was a key company in the formation of Metaldyne. At that company, he started out as a piece rate production worker and then became a Journeyman Tool Maker and a Maintenance Man. He also did plumbing and electrical work for the residents of Tekonsha between the years of 1977 and 1988.
In Bill’s free time he enjoyed being outdoors, camping, fishing, hunting, and working on the homestead property. He also owned and operated a sawmill for about 10 years.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Lou (Mitchell) LaMee; his daughters Christine Ann (LaMee) Huckfeldt and Linda Kay LaMee; and his sister, Edna Skiver. He also is affectionally known as Uncle Bill by Richard Schweikert and many other relatives. He has many cousins, friends, and relatives that will dearly miss him.
