NFL
We had another perfect 3-0 week in our NFL predictions last week as we correctly called wins for the Bears, Steelers and Vikings. The PP is on fire as he is 6-0 in his NFL picks over the last two weeks.
Recapping last week’s selections…
Bears 34, Packers 17 (Bears won 22-16 in overtime)
Steelers 27, Lions 20 (Steelers won 29-24)
Vikings 27, Giants 10 (Vikings won 16-13)
Two teams on Santa’s naughty list, the Lions and Vikings play at Minnesota on Christmas Day. Last year, they battled to the final night of the season for the NFC North title and the conference’s number one seed.
What a difference a year makes. The Vikings have been eliminated. The Lions are holding on to their postseason hopes by a string.
J.J. McCarthy is out with a broken hand. Someone named Max Brosmer will be the starting QB for the Vikings.
Even with all of their injuries, the PP thinks the Lions (You know, the Same Old Lions, the Same Old You Know What Lions) should have enough to beat Minnesota 17-14.
The Green Bay Packers host the Baltimore Ravens on Saturday night after the Pack Tin Cupped a victory at Chicago. The only thing missing at Soldier Field was Kevin Costner asking Cheech Marin for another ball.
Both starting quarterbacks Jordan Love and Lamar Jackson are questionable as of Tuesday.
The Ravens maybe the most disappointing team in the NFL this season and you have to wonder what they were thinking of in the final 12 minutes of the Sunday night loss to New England when Derrick Henry did not even touch the ball.
The PP thinks the Packers will bounce back on their home field and defeat the Ravens 27-13, thus eliminating the Lions from the playoffs and putting Lions fans out of their misery.
A big Sunday night game as the Bears play at San Francisco. Both teams are 11-4. Chicago will face a major test against the 49ers who coming off a smashing win over Indianapolis on Monday night.
The Niners have won five in a row and had the look of a Super Bowl contender in their 48-27 victory against the Colts.
While the Bears victory over the Packers was exciting, keep in mind the Bears struggled against a banged up Green Bay team until the final four minutes of regulation. They have also won six games this season by five points or less.
The PP has been thrilled by the Bears resurgence under Coach of the Year candidate Ben Johnson but he thinks the Windy City magic runs out Sunday night in Santa Clara as the Niners will win 38-24.
After going 8-6 last week, the PP is now 123-72-1 overall for the season.
