COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch County Board of Commissioners took care of mostly routine matters during their final meeting of 2025 on Tuesday afternoon.
The Commissioners formally approved a two-year Juvenile Defender contract with Attorney Benjamin Jewell which will be effective through December 31, 2027. This will ensure legal representation for individuals entitled to court-appointed counsel.
The Commissioners also formally approved the renewal of a three year service agreement with MGT Impact Solutions which has provided services for the County’s annual Cost Allocation Plan. The C.A.P. is used to allocate service costs to each department for expenses such as payroll, insurance, and information technology. The County’s current agreement with MGT expires on December 31.
As they closed out 2025, the Board of Commissioners scheduled their annual organizational meeting for Thursday, January 8, 2026 at 9:00 a.m. which will be followed by the first work session of the new year.
Normally during the annual organizational meeting, the commissioners select a board chair and vice chair for the next year. They are also expected to decide if they want to continue with the current meeting schedule.
Regular meetings have been held on the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month at 4:30 p.m. with work sessions being held on the Thursdays before a regular meeting.
