COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A Jonesville man who was one of two suspects charged in connection with a fight last St. Patrick’s Day weekend was sentenced Monday in Branch County Circuit Court.
21-year-old Kyle Macey was given a one year jail sentence and placed on 18 months of probation after he entered a guilty plea August 27, 2018 to an aggravated assault charge. In exchange for the plea, prosecutors dismissed a charge of assault with a weapon.
Macey also had to testify against 22-year-old co-defendant Tyler Lovell, who was found guilty of assault with a dangerous weapon and resisting arrest by a Branch County Circuit Court jury last month.
Lovell is scheduled to be sentenced October 22, 2018.
Macey was given credit for two days already served and his jail time over 30 days was suspended. Work release was allowed. During his probation, Macey will not be allowed to go into any bars. In addition, he can not possess alcohol, drugs or weapons. Macey was also ordered to pay $1,025 in fines and court costs.
Macey and Lovell were arrested by Coldwater Police following a brawl on Walnut Street which sent two people to ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital.
The two injured people had reportedly come to the aid of a woman, who was pushed to the ground by one of the suspects.
