PORTAGE, MI (WTVB) – Two Coldwater High School runners earned medals in the Division Two girls race on Saturday at the Portage Cross Country Invitational. In a field of nearly 300 runners and 45 teams, Coldwater’s Kathy Potter was 15th while Elka Machan finished 18th. Coldwater’s girls finished 19th in the Division Two standings while the boys were 42nd.
Bronson, Union City and Quincy competed at the Hudson Booster Invitational on Saturday. Quincy was 12th out of 20 teams in the boys Division 2/3 meet while Bronson was 14th. Union City did not have enough runners for a team score. Erik Butchart of Quincy was 16th while Bronson’s Luis Ortiz was 17th. Quincy’s Joshua Pepper also earned a medal with a 44th place finish. Owen Needham was 88th for the Chargers.
None of the three Branch County squads had enough runners for a team score in the girls meet. Bronson’s Xochitl Garcia finished third. Harmony Harpster of Quincy was 20th. Madelynn Allman of Quincy also earned a medal by finishing 39th. Marionna Bigelow of Union City was 116th.
