Cindy was born in Jackson, Michigan December 8, 1949 to Elwin & Betty Brown. Her childhood was inspired by her love for animals. Most notably her beloved horse Lotta.
Cindy was a good student and graduated from Michigan Center High School, where she played clarinet and was a majorette in the marching band. After high school Cindy began her lifelong career in retail working at Sid Young’s Department Store in Jackson.
She soon met her future husband Steve, and their marriage resulted in two children Steve and Chris, as well as paved the way for the creation of several small businesses including Glover Drug and Discount Center, Ron’s Pharmacy, and a chain of dollar stores called Dollar World.
Cindy was a dedicated and caring mother and yet somehow found time to work in her stores and volunteer in the community. She found joy in helping others and always went the extra mile with tireless dedication to others. She was a people person who had a remarkable ability to make quick friends of strangers everywhere she went.
Cindy had a love of lake life and was happiest at the lake, whether it was Coldwater Lake, Lake Lansing, or Lake Michigan, and she never missed an opportunity to visit her beloved Mackinaw City and Mackinac Island. She cherished time spent with her family and especially with her beloved grandchildren.
She will be remembered as a caring and genuine person with an unmatched work ethic who had a positive impact on her family and community.
