COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – In observance of Radon Action Month this January, the Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Community Health Agency is offering free radon testing kits at all of its office locations.
Radon is a naturally occurring, odorless, and colorless radioactive gas that can become trapped in homes, posing significant health risks. According to the Surgeon General, radon exposure is the second leading cause of lung cancer in the United States and the primary cause among non-smokers.
Because radon levels can change as homes settle and develop foundation cracks, health officials recommend that residents conduct a test every two years to ensure their indoor air quality remains safe.
