ANGOLA, IN (WTBV) – The Steuben County Board of Commissioners unanimously voted in late 2025 to formally signal their openness to hosting a casino, citing the intersection of Interstate 69 and the Indiana Toll Road as a logistical advantage.
Officials estimate a casino could create 800–1,000 direct jobs with average wages between $40,000 and $45,000, and recapture gaming tax revenue currently lost to neighboring states.
The proposal is being considered alongside two pieces of legislation in the Indiana General Assembly: Senate Bill 70, which targets Allen County or Fort Wayne for the Rising Star Casino license, and House Bill 1038, which would create a new license through a competitive bidding process.
