COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The building which used to be the site of the former Big Boy restaurant at 552 East Chicago in Coldwater has been sold.
The property was placed on the market in April and a realtor for Callander Commericial of Portage, which handles commercial real estate transactions throughout southwest Michigan, confirmed Wednesday that the property has been sold to a local Mexican restaurant.
Coldwater City Manager Keith Baker says the city has issued a mechanical permit for work in the building.
There has been activity around the building in recent weeks but it’s not known when a new business will begin operations there.
Before shutting down six months ago, the Coldwater Big Boy got some rather unflattering on line reviews.
The Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Community Health Agency found eight core violations during an inspection last February with only three of them being fixed.
