COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Branch County Prosecutor Zach Stempien has received a major endorsement as he seeks the office of Circuit Court Judge.
Former judge William O’Grady, who resigned the position January 1 of this year, issued a statement fully endorsing Stempien, who hopes to first be appointed by Governor Gretchen Whitmer to temporarily fill the position while officially entering into the 2026 election process.
O’Grady statement reads in part:
“I am pleased to provide my full endorsement of Zachary W. Stempien as our next Circuit Court Judge. I have observed Zack consistently demonstrate the highest moral character, strong legal ability, and sound judgment in his work serving our community. He has represented Branch County before the Michigan Supreme Court and the Michigan Court of Appeals, advocating at the highest levels of our judicial system”.
As of today Stempien is the only candidate to publicly announce his intentions to seek the Circuit Court judge position. It’s anticipated the Governor will make the temporary appointment later this month or early February.
