ANGOLA, IN (WTVB) – Cameron Health, in Angola, has introduced temporary visitor restrictions in response to a surge in influenza cases across the region.
As Indiana joins states like Michigan and Ohio in reporting very high flu activity levels, the hospital is limiting visitation to protect vulnerable patients.
Similar measures have been adopted by nearby facilities, with restrictions often prohibiting younger visitors and those showing symptoms of respiratory illness.
Under the new guidelines at Cameron’s main hospital facility, patients are allowed up to two visitors at a time, with visitors required to be over the age of 12 and free of flu-like symptoms such as fever, cough, or sore throat.
Hospital officials emphasize proper hand hygiene and encourage masking for anyone feeling unwell.
These precautions align with past protocols implemented during peak illness periods and are expected to remain in place until local case numbers decline, though exact duration has not been specified.
Patients and families are advised to check the hospital’s website or call ahead for the latest updates.
