BATTLE CREEK, MI (WTVB) – It was a history-making night for Coldwater basketball Friday night at the Harper Creek High School gym, as the varsity squads swept to victory over the host Beavers.
All nine Lady Cardinal players that played scored at least one point as they dominated Harper Creek 55-21. Coldwater led 14-4 after one, 31-6 at halftime, and 48-18 after three on their way to their fourth consecutive victory.
Mya Porter led all scorers with 16 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists, 10 steals, and a block. Audi Bucklin had 9 points and 5 rebounds, while Rylie VanAken added 9 points, 5 boards, and 3 assists.
With the win, the Cardinals improved to 6-4 overall and 3-1 in the Interstate 8. They are idle until next Friday, when they host Hastings.

The JV girls contest saw the Beavers prevail 40-21.
Aaron Bucklin earned his 100th victory as head coach of the Cardinal boys basketball team as they won 71-51 to wrap up the evening. Coldwater led 16-12 after one, 33-26 at halftime, and 50-42 after three before putting the game away with a 21-9 fourth quarter.
Four players scored in double digits for the Cardinals, led by Julian Thompson’s 16 points and 9 rebounds. Dayton Ennis added 13 points and 3 assists, Austin Downs had 12 points and 7 boards, and Gavin Taylor added 11 points and 3 assists.
Coldwater improved to 4-7 overall and 2-3 in the Interstate 8. They will welcome Portage Northern to the Coach Floyd Eby Gymnasium on Monday.
