COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater City Council is scheduled to meet this evening, and will consider a resolution that would support the North Chain of Lakes Association’s efforts to manage the local Canada goose population.
If approved, the resolution would allow the association to apply for a five-year permit from the Michigan Department of Natural Resources to conduct nest and egg destruction on Cemetery, South, Messenger, and North Lakes through 2031.
This strategy focuses on non-lethal methods such as freezing eggs or destroying nests to encourage migration and prevent new goslings.
The proposal aligns with the MDNR’s recent shift toward prioritizing preventative methods over more controversial lethal measures.

These flying pigs have to be handled. They’re way beyond needing protection.
All they do crap on sidewalks and spread Bird Flu.
Time to get rid of them.
