COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Michigan Defense Academy has announced professional Michigan Concealed Pistol License (CPL) training sessions scheduled for February 15 and March 1, 2026.
Hosted at Branch County Conservation and Sportsman’s Club, 302 E. Fenn Rd, these comprehensive eight-hour courses are led by USCCA-certified instructor Todd Sider and are designed to exceed Michigan State Police requirements.
The curriculum prioritizes responsible, real-world carry by covering legal use-of-force laws, home defense fundamentals, and the physiology of violent encounters. Participants will engage in both classroom instruction and hands-on defensive shooting to meet the practical skills necessary for range qualification.
To ensure an accessible and personalized learning environment, the academy limits class sizes and provides several student-focused amenities.
For a registration fee of $100, attendees receive a free lunch and may utilize a Sig Sauer P365 handgun at no additional charge. Each session runs from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, providing the official certificate required to apply for a CPL through the county clerk’s office.
Prospective students can secure their spot by registering online at the Michigan Defense Academy or by contacting the instructor via email at todd@trainwithmda.com.
