COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – At Monday night’s Coldwater City Council meeting, City Attorney Amanda O’Boyle at the request of the Coldwater Police Department(CPD) and the Department of Municipal Services (DMP), introduced an amendment to chapter 1064 of the municipal park lands that would reclassify park misuses from a civil infraction to a criminal misdemeanor.
O’Boyle described some of the issues both departments facing.
O’Boyle says the way the current ordinance is written hinders with how police are able to deal with the violations.
The Council will conduct a formal vote at a future meeting, at which time O’Boyle says the amended ordinance would be enforceable immediately.
Council last night also formally voted to move city wide elections from odd to even years.
