COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Tibbits Opera Foundation & Arts Council, Inc. held its annual meeting on Wednesday, at the historic Tibbits Opera House.
Treasurer Dylan Foster presented the financial overview, noting declines in attendance and rental income but emphasizing an increases in donations, including membership contributions, fundraising events, and general support.
He stressed that the theater’s true health extends beyond finances, encompassing attendance, community participation, cultural impact, and belief in its mission. “The financials tell one part of the story,” Foster said. “The people in this room and the people the theatre serves tell the rest.” Executive Director Christine Delaney echoed themes of resilience amid challenges, thanking staff for their hard work and mutual support during a difficult year while acknowledging reduced volunteer numbers and staffing issues that affected revenue from concessions, the gift shop, and raffle tickets.
Development Director Andy French recognized outgoing board members Seth Berry, Chris Donbrock, Ken Norton, and Diane Pridgeon, each honored with a commemorative clock for their service.
The meeting concluded with the election of new and returning board members: Jeff Gallup, Kris Jenkins, and Alissa Persails joined the board, while Erin Jansen was re-elected for a second three-year term. During the subsequent organizational meeting, officers were re-elected, including John Bolton as Board President . The event underscored the theater’s ongoing community role despite financial pressures.
