UNION CITY, MI (WTVB) – The Union City Chargers used a balanced attack and a deep bench to defeat the Bronson Vikings 55-32 in a Big 8 Conference girls basketball game on Thursday night at McNett Fieldhouse.
The Vikings managed to stay within shouting distance of the Chargers for most of the game before Union City’s depth wore out Bronson in the final quarter.
Union City led 25-15 at halftime and 39-26 after three quarters. A 16-6 fourth quarter sealed the Chargers win.
Three Union City players finished in double figures as Madison Krummrey scored 12 points while Nala Payne and Calli Wilkinson each had 11 points.
Bronson’s Lydia Wells had a game-high 21 points which included four buckets from beyond the arc.
Union City is now 10-3 overall and 6-2 in the Big 8 Conference while Bronson drops to 1-9 overall and 1-5 in the conference.
Union City also won the J.V. game 34-19.
In another Big 8 Conference girls basketball game on Thursday night, Quincy lost at Stockbridge 46-33. The Orioles are now 5-5 overall and 4-3 in the Big 8.
