COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A parent addressed the Coldwater Community School Board of Education Monday night on what she felt were unfair practices of the district’s zero tolerance policies for bullying.
Kalie Beemer said the zero tolerance mandate needs to be revisited by the administration and enforced more appropriately.
She felt the Coldwater bullying policy was missing two clauses of a state definition that covers “employee to student” and “student to employee” harassing.
Beemer also proposed that all administration, staff and volunteers receive mandatory compliance training.
Beemer said a policy council should be formed and that there should be standardized guidelines throughout all schools in the system, which she said would create an environment of good ethics and respect for all.
