KALAMAZOO MI, (WTVB) – United Airlines will officially return to Kalamazoo/Battle Creek International Airport this spring, ending a four-year absence from the region.
Airport officials announced on Tuesday that the carrier will offer four daily flights between the Southwest Michigan hub and Chicago O’Hare International Airport.
Tickets for these new routes are scheduled to go on sale this Thursday, allowing travelers to once again connect to United’s global network directly from the local tarmac.
The airline originally suspended its local operations in January 2022 due to industry-wide staffing shortages and limited resources following the pandemic.
While United previously controlled about 18% of the market at AZO, its departure left American and Delta as the only major carriers serving the area.
Airport Director Craig Williams says that the return of United confirms a long-standing commitment to the Southwest Michigan market, providing a significant boost to regional infrastructure and economic connectivity.
