PARMA, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater was outscored 21-2 in the final quarter as Parma Western stayed undefeated in Interstate 8 girls basketball action with a 52-39 home victory Tuesday night. The Panthers’ Rayah Hitt scored 18 in the fourth quarter and finished the night breaking Western’s single-game scoring record with 40 points.
The Cardinals used the long ball to take a 13-8 first quarter lead and a 26-19 halftime advantage, finishing 9-for-15 on the night from the three-point line. Coldwater led 37-31 after three quarters before Western’s defense held the Cardinals without a field goal in the final period.
Rylie VanAken and Addy Bucklin each scored 13 to lead Coldwater. VanAken added 4 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals, and a block. Mya Porter had 8 points, 4 boards, 2 steals, and 2 blocks, and Audi Bucklin finished with 5 points and 2 rebounds.
The Cardinals fell to 8-6 overall and 6-2 in the Interstate 8. They will host Jackson Northwest Friday on Hall of Fame Night.
